MALAYSIAN YOUTH BIOINFORMATICS SYMPOSIUM
WORKSHOPS
Artificial Intelligence (AI) will define the next generation technology. A task, formerly performed by human and thought to involve learning and reasoning, can now be solved by a machine. In this workshop, you will see how artificial intelligence helps us in the analysis of large and complex bioinformatics datasets. In specific, you will apply machine learning techniques on bioinformatics data to solve real problems.
This workshop centers on the genomic assembly on sequences yielded from Next Generation Sequencing. The hands-on exercises would be in the Linux environment, introducing the common methods and tools used in generating draft genomes. Participants are required to have a basic concept in biology. No prior knowledge in computer programming is needed.
An expert system is a computer system that emulates the decision-making ability of a human expert. Expert systems are designed to solve complex problems by reasoning through domain knowledge. In this workshop, we will explore how to use the expert system in bioinformatics.
